Biography

Amy Jo Goddard is a professional sexuality educator, trainer, writer, and performing & visual artist. A professional trainer of sexuality professionals, medical students, college students and youth for over eleven years now, she has taught courses relating to sexuality at the City University of New York and the University of California at Santa Barbara. She specializes in women's health issues, and teaches gynecological and breast exam to medical students. She co-founded Take Back the Night at New York University and has worked with issues of sexual assault and violence as well as healthy sexuality over the course of her career. She earned her Masters degree in Human Sexuality and Health Education at New York University and her Bachelors degree in Literature and Creative Writing at the University of California at Santa Barbara’s College of Creative Studies.

Amy Jo was an active member of New York City’s WOW Café Theatre collective for a number of years, where she produced her one-person show What is Said, What Goes Unspoken in 1998, and her full-length play Vulvalution: Her Lips Speak in 1999. She performed her one-woman show HoneyToes Makes a Scene at Queer@HERE 2004 and at the Brooklyn Arts Exchange’s Women’s Performance Festival in 2005. Her non-fiction book Lesbian Sex Secrets for Men has been helping bridge the gender gap for five years now, and is still going strong. She is also a contributing author of All About Sex: A Family Resource Guide on Sex and Sexuality and has been published in numerous other publications including LOFT and Bust Magazine. As host of CherryBomb.com's web stream program "Fresh Advice," Amy Jo developed, researched, wrote and hosted over 60 episodes on women’s sexuality. She has been featured on the Discovery Channel, Montel Williams and in numerous publications including Men's Journal. In addition to her teaching, she also maintains a private sexual consultation practice.
